Part Three: The State of the Sex Addict

The sex addict is generally in either one of three states:

Denial:
In denial, having failed to recognize their addiction and its harmfulness to themselves and their loved ones;

Shame:
Aware of the problem affecting them, but unwilling or unable to take responsibility for it and held hostage by secrecy and shame;

Recovery:
For those who are fortunate enough to have found the strength of heart to face their addiction, there is the opportunity to enter a recovery program involving specialized counseling, complemented by attending Sex Addicts Anonymous (12 Step) meetings, other support groups, and/or couples and family counseling.

There is much to learn and understand about sexual addiction for both the addict and their family and friends. It is valuable to study the subject. Click here for a link to our book section.
